Baby Butterfly

A tiny caterpillar crawled along a leaf.

A tiny caterpillar crawled along a leaf. She was very hungry. Munch, munch, munch.

She ate one green leaf. She ate two red berries. She ate three little flowers. Her tummy was so full!

"I am sleepy now," said the caterpillar. She made a cozy little bed called a cocoon. She wrapped up tight and fell asleep.

She slept for a long, long time. Inside her cocoon, something magical was happening.

One sunny morning, the cocoon opened. Out came two beautiful wings! Orange and yellow and blue!

The caterpillar was not a caterpillar anymore. She was a butterfly!

"Look at me!" she said, flying up into the sky. She danced with the flowers and played with the breeze.

All her caterpillar friends looked up. "You are so beautiful!" they said. "We cannot wait for our turn to fly!"
