Balloon Goes Up

A bright red balloon slipped out of a little boy's hand.

A bright red balloon slipped out of a little boy's hand. Up, up, up it floated!

The balloon flew over the houses. "Hello, rooftops!" The chimneys puffed a hello back.

The balloon flew over the park. "Hello, trees!" The leaves waved in the wind.

The balloon flew over the pond. "Hello, ducks!" The ducks quacked and looked up.

Higher and higher. The balloon could see the whole town! Everything looked so tiny and cute.

But then the balloon felt lonely up so high. He missed the little boy.

The wind was kind. It gently blew the balloon back down, down, down.

The little boy was waiting in his yard, looking up at the sky. The balloon floated right back to his hand!

"You came back!" said the boy, hugging the balloon. The balloon bobbed happily. He had seen the whole world, but home was the best place of all.
