Birdie's Song

Every morning, Birdie sat on a branch and sang.

Every morning, Birdie sat on a branch and sang. "La la la!" Her song was sweet and clear.

The flowers opened their petals when they heard it. "Sing more!" they said.

"I want to sing too!" said Little Cricket. "Can you teach me?"

"Of course!" said Birdie. "Listen. La la la!" Cricket tried. "Chirp chirp chirp!" It was different, but it was lovely!

"Me too!" said Frog. "Ribbit la ribbit!" That sounded funny and wonderful.

"Me too!" said the Wind. "Whoooosh la la!" What a beautiful sound.

Soon the whole meadow was singing. Birdie and Cricket and Frog and Wind, all together.

Each one sounded different. But together? Together they made the most beautiful song in the world.

A little girl sat in the meadow and listened. She closed her eyes and smiled. "This is the best song I ever heard," she whispered. And the meadow sang on.
