Toot and the Big Blue

For every small boat in a big, kind world.

Good Morning, Toot

Toot leaves the little pier as the sun comes up.

Toot wakes by the little pier. The lamp still glows. Sea goes swish, swish. Far away, a blue line waits. “Hello, line,” says Toot. “I am coming!”

Peach Sun

Tiny Toot chugs along a bright path made by the peach sun.

A peach sun peeks up. Its light makes a bright road on the sea. Toot follows the shiny road. “Swish, swish,” goes the water. “Hello, Toot,” it says.

Scoot, Line

Toot puffs toward the far blue line, but it is still far away.

Toot chugs and chugs. Puff, puff, puff! But the blue line is still far away. It scoots away from Toot. Toot makes one more puff. “Wait for me, line!”

Big Blue Water

Tiny red Toot chugs alone across a huge calm blue sea.

Chug, chug, chug goes Toot. The peach sun is behind him. The little pier is gone. No lamp. No green buoy. Blue sea is all around. Blue sky is all above.

Hello, Whale

A huge gentle whale rises beside Toot, who looks up and beeps hello.

Whoosh! Water lifts up. A whale comes near Toot. Her back is a blue hill. Her belly shines silver-white. One kind eye looks down. Toot beeps. “Hello, Whale!” The whale makes a soft splash.

Warm Rain

Toot bobs happily in soft rain over the blue sea.

Plip, plop, plip, plop. Rain falls on the sea. Rain taps Toot’s roof. Toot bobs up and down. He giggles. “Plip, plop!” The sea pats back. Pat, pat, pat.

Star Sea

Toot floats on a dark blue starry sea and looks toward one far warm light.

The sky turns deep blue. The rain goes away. Stars blink over Toot. Stars blink in the water. Toot is very still. “Hi, home,” he says softly. Then one small light blinks far away.

All Around

Toot floats beside a huge kind whale in the blue sea under the blue sky.

Up comes Whale. Whoosh! “Look, Toot,” says Whale. Blue sea below. Blue sky above. Big blue all around. Toot looks. Toot smiles.

Turn, Toot

Toot turns on the blue water and heads toward a tiny warm light far away.

Toot turns around. Swish, swish goes the water. There is the warm little light. There is home. The sea is big here too. Chug, chug, Toot goes.

Swish, Swish, Home

Toot rests beside the cream pier under a warm yellow lamp as the sea grows dark.

Toot reaches the cream pier. The yellow lamp glows. Toot gives one small toot. Then Toot rests. “Goodnight, big blue,” says Toot. Swish, swish. Home.
