Inside this storybook
My name is Noah. Today I am going to get my first haircut. My grown-up and I walk into the hair salon.
The receptionist says hello at the front desk. We sit on a bench near a big green fern. We wait for my turn.
The hairdresser shows me a tall chair by a wide mirror. A booster seat helps me sit up high. She puts a soft striped cape around me.
The hairdresser sprays a little water on my hair. Psst, psst. It feels cool and tickly. She combs my hair smooth.
Next come the scissors. Snip, snip. Cutting hair does not hurt, like trimming fingernails. Many children feel a little nervous at their first haircut. That is okay.
Sometimes the hairdresser uses clippers. They buzz, bzzz, like a tiny fan. The buzz can tickle near my ears. I can try holding my grown-up's hand and counting slowly to ten.
Soon the haircut is done. The hairdresser brushes the little hairs away and takes off the cape. I look in the mirror and see my new haircut.
My grown-up and I wave goodbye to the receptionist. My head feels light and fresh. My first haircut is finished, and I feel calm.
